LIGHTING DESIGN FOR
WAREHOUSING, DISTRIBUTION & LOGISTICS

Warehousing, Distribution & Logistics

There is a huge amount of scope to increase efficiency and lighting quality in a warehouse and logistical storage environment. Due to the nature of the space, directional optics are incredibly effective in extending the spread and uniformity of light. For this reason, warehousing is a prime candidate for a reduction in the number of luminaires required to light the space upon upgrade.

Automated PIR and dimming are also effective in this setting.  Volvo, Motherwell, for example, were able to achieve an average saving of 97% in their warehouse following a smart LED upgrade; through careful lighting design and appropriate optics, Volvo were able reduce the number of luminaires required to light the space by 8:3.

The superior colour rendering of LED in comparison to older technology such as high pressure sodium or halogen makes white or yellow safety and hazard lines far easier to see, more recognisable at a distance and better defined.

Lighting design for warehousing and logistics also incorporates external yard space, and large vehicle entryways.
